FIFA World Cup, officially known as the international men’s association soccer tournament. Since 1930 AD, it has been happening every four years and still going on. After Argentina recently won the 22nd FIFA World Cup, now FIFA has confirmed the date of the World Cup 2026. The 23rd FIFA World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in which 48 countries are divided into 12 groups with 4 nations each of them.
Qualifier
For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, six CONCACAF teams are officially confirmed by the FIFA Council, along with host teams: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Dates, stadiums, and other processes for the 2026 World Cup’s qualifier are still pending to decide.
Matches
The 2026 FIFA World Cup matches will be decided once the qualifier is over, so wait until TBD. A total of 104 matches, 6 matches in each group of 12 (72), 16 matches in Round of 32 (16), 8 matches in Round of 16 (8), 4 matches in Quarter-Finals (4), 2 matches in Semi-Finals (2), Third place play-off matches (1) and Finals matches (1) will be played over 39 days.
Every team from the group played with each other for the points table and qualify for the Round of 32. If a team wins the match, then 3 points are added to the team’s score but if the match is tied then 1-1 point is added for both teams.
From 12 groups, 24 teams will be selected with 2 teams with the most points carry in each group, and the best 8 teams from the 3rd place among all groups will be selected for the Round of 32. Then, all 32 teams will play their respective group teams to secure a spot in the Round of 16.
Like the Round of 32, 8-8 of the 16 teams in the Round of 16, 4-4 of the 8 teams in the quarter-finals, 2-2 of the 4 teams in the semi-finals, and last 1-1 of the 2 teams in finals will play to knock out the other team.
Venues
As confirmed by host countries for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 16 host cities have been selected as venues for the World Cup tournament. Among 16 host cities, 2 are in Canada, 3 in Mexico, and 11 are in the United States are categorized into three geographical regions, 6 cities in the Central region and the remaining half (5-5) each in the Western and Eastern regions.
